Bronte Precision Engineering Apprentice Jack has been shortlisted for the Made in Yorkshire Apprentice of the Year Award

We’ve had to keep this secret for the past 3 months and we’re so excited to share with you all that…

Bronte Precision Engineering apprentice Jack has been shortlisted for the Made in Yorkshire – Apprentice of the Year award!

About Bronte

Bronte Precision is a sub-contract manufacturer based in Low Moor, Bradford. Located in close proximity to the M62 and M606, Bronte Precision has been providing a host of precision engineering services to its customers for over 15 years.

As a sub-contract manufacturer, we primarily specialise in the production of large and complex components which are required in small to medium quantities. We often work from technical drawings or CAD files and also have the ability to reverse engineer from sample parts if required.

About Apprentice Jack

Jack is currently completing a 4 year mechanical engineering apprenticeship (NVQ) with Appris. He’s completed one day a week site visits for the last 18 months at Bronte Precision where we’ve enabled Jack to gain workplace experience to complete his qualification. He continues to learn a variety of mechanical engineering skills including gear cutting and CNC machining and the parts he produces are evidence of his abilities. He’s been able to combine theoretical knowledge from his studies with practical experience at Bronte Precision to make him job ready for when he’s completed his NVQ.

Jack is currently in his 2nd Year with Bronte Precision and has come far in such a short period of time. He’s been a pleasure to have on the shop floor as he’s very conscientious and listens well. Jack has been learning gear cutting as well as CNC machining at Bronte Precision. We’ve been very impressed with his ability to quickly learn the processes involved in mechanical engineering and he’s proven himself to be a very capable individual. You only have to show Jack once and he’s got it! This means that even though Jack still has lot’s of experience to gain we’re confident enough in his abilities to allow him to stand in on certain jobs when required, including the setting up of CNC machines.

Jack’s unique skillset of gear cutting and CNC machining wouldn’t have been achieved in only 18 months without his excellent work ethic. Jack is a valuable member of the team and we’re excited to see him grow with the business. As well as support from his Tutor and peers, Jack has been internally mentored and supported by experienced engineers. Before commencing practical workplace experience Jack had to learn the health and safety operating procedures we implement to ensure a safe working environment. Not only has Jack had to learn the standard health and safety procedures you’d expect at an engineering facility but he’s quickly adapted to the COVID-19 secure policy implemented during the pandemic.

Finally, key workplace skills such as how to manage workloads, resources and peer relationships are all part of how we as an employer are helping Jack to succeed as a Mechanical Engineer.
